Your First Hairdresser Job

Your First Hairdresser Job

After you have completed your training, it is time to go out and get your first hairdresser job.

This is an exciting time. You are going to take all of your knowledge and you're going to put it into practice. Not only that, but you are going to be able to start making money with your chosen profession.

Here are some tips on getting that first job as a hairdresser.

1. Send out plenty of resumes every day. Do not just send out one or two and then hope that someone will call you. It is much better to send out a large number of resumes and then have your choice of job offers than it is to send out only one or two and wait by the phone, hoping that someone will call you. Your goal is to have the phone ringing off the hook with people who want to talk to you about coming in for an interview.

2. Now that you have the interview, you need to make sure that you make a good impression.

Of course, your hair needs to look great. Not only do you need to have it in the latest style, but make sure that it is neat and presentable. Take great care with your outfit. Make sure that it is clean and wrinkle free. Make sure that you smile and look the interviewer in the eye when you speak. You need to project confidence, but not arrogance. Make sure that you speak clearly and that you are very friendly - hairdressers need to be able to build a rapport with clients.

3. Send a follow-up note after your interview. This does not have to be elaborate. A simple note saying that it was a pleasure to meet the interviewer and to thank them for their time would be sufficient. You just want to make sure that they remember you.

These simple steps will help you to get your first hairdresser job.
